Republic of Hungry & Malnourished India

Hungry and Malnourished Republic of India after 64 years...

What has changed in economically liberalized India?

When we are celebrating our Republic Day and endorsing our constitutions principles in which we have the Fundamental Right to Life with Dignity, have we delivered the same to our citizen?

Mid of all the celebrations, let us not forget the ground realities.

This Presentation compares India's food security status with poor countries, countries with food deficiency, underdeveloped countries, etc.

Please see the following graphs carefully.

All data are from various international organisations like UNICEF, WHO, FAO, UNCTAD, World Bank, etc. Government of India is part of these organisations and shared the data with all.

I am not trying to paint a bad picture of India but trying to remind, where we stand and how far we have to go? It is time to think and act. We all have responsibilities.

Demand for food is growing faster than what we can produce domestically.  (Till date, have you seen any action plan of central government to address this challenge?)

Young India needs proper nutrition to grow healthy and deliver to their full potential in nation building. By keeping them hungry are we doing national service? Are we protecting their fundamental rights?
Are we producing food as per the demand to keep citizens healthy?

Should we celebrate when 50% of Children in India are hungry and malnourished?

We are celebrating Republic day for what? How many hungry people and malnourished people were at the Rajpath? Are we showing the complete reality or half truth?

Can we become superpower, without  becoming happy nation?

With Food inflation at the rate of 10%? What will happen to these families? Can they spend on education, health care and other requirements to live with dignity?
Should India export food and spend on export promotion and doing little to improve distribution system of food to feed local population?
What is the way forward to feed hungry & malnourished India?

What will be the malnutrition population by next Republic Day? Will it go up or go down?

Any suggestion and analysis will be useful...just share with all..

Do write you views what should be national priority for the governments.
