Proposed BRICS Action Plan for Food Security Challenges
Presentation by:

at
BRICS AWG, Durban
It was an honur to represent my country and organisation alone and also only presentation at the dicusssion forum which was endorsed by all BRICS member countries.

BRICS is a home for 42% of global population. We have only 30% of global land mass. Every one need healthy and safe food food to health. Other than human food, we have to provide feed and fodder to livestock and aquaculture sector and industrial raw material like cotton, rubber, timber, etc to other industries.

Our land mass is fully exploited and in many case over used. It is high time to plan what is the future of food secuirty and how we should ensure food and feed is available to all.

Per capita land is shrinking below sustainable level.
We do not have more land to produce food and feed.
BRICS Nations have to think how to ensure food and feed from shrinking land mass per capita.
Exisiting systems and technologies are fully exhausted and many crops are facing stagnation in productivity.
Our food havits are also putting serious strain of natural resources.
I propose following areas for immediate consideration to develop action plan. Need your feedback on the same.
Time to work together. Challenge is too huge to be handled by one nation.
Looking forward for your inputs to take this agenda forward.
