The growing population will need more food from shrinking landmass and natural resources. We have to plan for growing demand very carefully. There will be competing demands from other crops as well.

The area under mustard crop is fluctuating depending upon weather and price. 
The yield is also fluctuating widely due to various factors.
The positive sign is mustard is expanding to new areas but concern is yield is low. This must be addressed. 
The yield is directly correlated to appropriate technology transfer and package of practices adopted by the farmers supported by price. Haryana and Rajasthan are doing better in mustard crop than other regions. 
The ray of hope is, we have high yielding districts in every state as given below. Why we cannot replicate these models in other districts?
Low yielding districts need serious attention, without changing any major rules or new approvals.


I feel industry friends can play an important role in bridging this gap. Please note, this is not a cost centre but a profit centre. 
My proposal to SEA and my industry friends are as follows:



Biggest Challenge in Oilseed Mission:

Mustard Oil adulteration in India by substandard and synthetic toxic oils.

Adulteration and Corruption will never allow India to become "Atmnirbhar Bharat" in edible oils.

FSSAI should be asked to make all records public related to action taken against fraudsters and criminals of adulteration. 

Why FSSAI wants to hide and protect criminals and corrupt people playing with public health and national food security? 

Why FSSAI management is not promoting transparency in Digital India?

Lack of transparency in the function of FSSAI sampling and laboratory systems is breeding adulteration culture supported by corruption in the system.

These are basic questions and concerns which as citizens we want FSSAI must address.
