Population of India                            : 1300 million
Total No. of ATMs as of Sept. 2016  : 2,18,386
ATMs in:
Metro Centers          : 56,870
Urban Centers         : 60,459
Semi-urban Centers: 59,424
Rural Centers          : 41,633

In brief: there are about 6,000 people per ATM in India.
means average 200 customers per day per ATM, if they come once a month.

There are about 1,25,000 bank branches:
It means more than 11,000 people per bank branch.

It means every day each bank branch has to service about 500 people per day, if they come once a month.
or at least 100 families per day.

I have not calculated other banking services required by business and trading organisations.

Banks have think alternate options to service customers.

BHIM App and its reality:

There are 193 banks in India.
BHIM app as of today covers only 31 Banks.
As of today, no cooperataive bank is linked to BHIM.

Any guess when situation will be normalised?

Short term Option:
Till new branches and ATM are established, Banks may think of starting at least two shifts or extend the timing till late evening upto 10 pm to handle rush and recruit more staff to manage the same branch.
