We have to plan for growing demand very carefully. There will be competing demands from other crops as well. The area under mustard crop is fluctuating depending upon weather and price.  The yield is also fluctuating widely due to various factors. The positive sign is mustard is expanding to new areas but concern is yield is low. This must be addressed.  The yield is directly correlated to appropriate technology transfer and package of practices adopted by the farmers supported by price. Haryana and Rajasthan are doing better in mustard crop than other regions.  The ray of hope is, we have high yielding districts in every state as given below.
