IIHMR
University (www.iihmr.edu.in)
is a global institution for promoting health research to encourage
innovation better management and use to technology in healthcare
delivery and developing of cost-effective and culturally relevant
health intervention to improve health and productivity of the people
of India and globally.
According to Dr. N S Deodhar, there was not a single
institute in the world which exclusively meant for health management
except one in Geneva; Furthermore, this is the only institute in
India having no department & another characteristic of the institute is that does not function in isolation.
IIHMR University was established as a private
Post Graduate Research University on 25/02/2014 through an act
enacted by the Rajasthan State Legislature and received the assent of the
Government of Rajasthan.
The UGC approval was granted on 30th Oct
2015. There are 3 schools in the university comprising of “Institute
of Health Management & Research”, School of Pharmaceutical
Management & School of Development Studies.
The
over-arching goals of the university are as follows:
- To create a higher-level intellectual ability through self-financed, the postgraduate and doctoral programme in hospital and health management., pharmaceutical management, rural management and social sector;
- To make a visible impact on policies and programmes in India through teaching, research and training in higher education and make provisions for research, advancement and dissemination of knowledge;
The
“School of Development Studies (SDS)”,
currently offers “The
MBA in Rural Management Advantage” the programme, with a curriculum benchmarked according to the
recommendations of “International
Commission on Education for Sustainable Development Practice”
curriculum providing detailed knowledge about four fields viz.,
“Management,
Social Sciences, Health Sciences & Physical Sciences”, six
field learning segments for a rich blend of theory & “Practice
oriented Pedagogy”;
Built around a culture of
action-oriented research, the university has worked collaboratively
with the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University
(USA), as well as international agencies like the “World Health
Organization (WHO) & the United Nations (UN)”, the school is
poised build in a range of niche initiatives towards “Research,
Executive Education, Innovation Hub, Online education,
Internationalization & Position towards building
Policy-Supporting strategic reforms within and aligning with sectoral
requirements of strengthening human resources, knowledge management &
technical-support”;
The
“School
of Development Studies (SDS)”
at IIHMR University Board involving distinguished Academicians, Field Experts
& Practitioners, deliberated in 360-degree format aspects of:
(a) Field / Case-Study & Industry Segments of the Curriculum,
(b) Introduction of Technology-Based Learning,
(c) Introduce
study-streams/concentrations to the MBA (Rural Management) Programme,
encompassing of 06 different specializations, similar to the Maxwell
System; i.e.

thematic concentrations stated above, by including them as part of
curricula in a phased manner,

International Candidates, Introduction of 01 year PGDM in Sustainable
Development,
(f) Introduction of Weekend Programme of MBA
(Rural Management), for Mid-Career Professionals at IIHMR, New Delhi,
Introduce 03 months specialized certificate programme focusing on
SDGs / (any development agenda), for Young Professionals,
(g) Roster
Adjunct Faculty representing eminent universities from varied
geographic locations, to co-deliver academic courses on a global
context, & to be engaged for teaching for 07 days duration,

Introduction of 04 off-campus MDP centers for SDS’s Executive
Education agenda (IIT-Madras, Asian Development Research Institute
(ADRI): Patna, NIRD & PR (Hyderabad), & one more location
TBD),
(i) Introduction of MOOC programmes to extend “Developmental
Courses” focusing on Development in India, & specifically
highlighting GoI landmark programmes & affiliated to a
Multi-bilateral Donor (i.e. UNEP / UNCHS),

“Rural Innovation Lab”, through Grants/ Endowment;

Introduction of Research Grants in emerging areas of development,

(m) Introduce Summer / Winter Schools, Exchange Programmes
& Boot-camps for graduate students, internationally, and

Convening of two thematic conferences / policy-dialogues, of
national & International focus;
